The Getty Center

Once the home for the J. Paul Getty Trust’s extensive art collection is now one of Los Angeles’ most beloved museums; The Getty Center. The massive complex sits atop a large cliffside overlooking L.A. The modern pavilions house ornate French furniture, impressionistic paintings, and continual rotating exhibits. There is as much to enjoy inside as there is outside with its beautiful gardens, modern architecture, and sweeping views of downtown L.A. all the way to the hills and ocean sitting in the west.

Getty Villa

Overlooking the beaches of Malibu and the famous scenic HWY 1, the Getty Villa houses the Getty’s collection of Mediterranean antiquities. Discover the ancient world of Greece and Rome – from the recreation of the ancient Roman country house to the artwork spanning the Stone Age to the fall of the Roman Empire. A true treat for the visually stimulated, are the manicured gardens and opulent courtyards which provide visitors with a calming and serene experience. While the museum entrance is free, there is a $15 charge for parking. Reservations are required, so be sure to plan well in advance.          

The Broad

The Broad is a contemporary art museum in Los Angeles that is always free for visitors. With an active program of rotating temporary exhibitions, the Board is home to more than 2,000 pieces of art. As a part of the Broad collection, expect to see one of the world’s most prominent collections of postwar and contemporary art. Admission to the permanent art collections is free, there is an additional fee for special exhibits.

Annenberg Space for Photography

If you’re a photographer, then the Annenberg Space for Photography is a must see. Hammer Museum

Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles

Originally founded as the Santa Monica Museum of Art, the 12,700 sq. ft. space as the Institute of Contemporary Art showcases the emerging voices of contemporary art and culture. California Science Center
