Now that you’ve set your goals for 2019, the next step is figuring out how to stay motivated? After the holidays, life returns to “normal” and you can quickly fall back into your same habits that may not be helping you achieve your goals you’ve set for yourself. So, here are a few ways on how to stay motivated in 2019.

Take note

Take the first step and simply write down your goals. Writing down your goals will help keep them top of mind, thus more achievable. Your goals shouldn’t just be kept in your head. Write them out on a piece of paper that you keep visible; in your house, your car, or at work. This way no matter how many distractions you have in the day you will be reminded of the goals you set for yourself.

Dissect your goals

Whether you have one big goal or several big goals, breaking them down into smaller tasks will help you to achieve small steps throughout the year. It can be stressful looking at your goal(s) as one big achievement. Instead, designate smaller tasks you can do daily or weekly or even monthly will help break your goal down - making it more achievable.

Create a schedule

Set a schedule for yourself, something you know you can realistically stick to. If you don’t set aside designated time to put towards your goals, the day can easily get away from you. It doesn’t have to be a daily schedule, it can be something you do weekly or even monthly. This will help you to be more consistent in the efforts you are putting towards achieving your goals.

Track your progress

How will you know if you are still on track to achieve your goals without tracking your progress? Are you far behind or are you ahead? Try setting a monthly check-in with yourself to help track of where you are in achieving your goal. It is also another great way to revisit your goal(s) throughout the year.

Build a support system

One essential component of how to stay motivated in 2019 is to surround yourself with people who will support you and your goals. If you surround yourself with people who don’t believe in what you are trying to accomplish, it can make achieving your goals that much harder and can be a real non-motivator.

Reward yourself

Who says you can’t reward yourself for reaching milestones towards your goal? Looking forward to the reward can help keep you motivated to achieve your goal(s). Maybe it is a new pair of shoes or new camera lens that you’ve had your eye on - whatever you decide to treat yourself to, make this a reward for accomplishing what you set out to achieve this year.
