Schabarum Regional Park

Located in nearby Rowland Heights, Schabarum Regional Park has 75 acres of land developed for hiking, walking, picnics, and recreational sports. While there are well-developed amenities throughout the park most of the grounds have been left in their natural state, mixed with the many hiking and biking trails that connect with the historic Juan Bautista De Anza National Historic Trail.

Shadow Oak Park

Located in West Covina, Shadow Oak Park is located on a hilltop that provides sweeping views of the San Gabriel Valley. With ample green space and picnic tables, pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a relaxing afternoon at this lively community park.

Galster Wilderness Park

Nestled on the north slope of the San Jose Hills in the San Gabriel Valley is Galster Wilderness Park. This 42-acre wilderness park is home to one of the last remaining plant communities of Southern California Black Walnut Woodlands. Walking and hiking trails are available throughout the park for visitors to explore.

Chino Hills State Park

In Chino Hills, the Chino Hills State Park rests in the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains. Visitors can explore this 14,000-acre park by foot or bike, although mountain bikers are the favorite here. Discover rolling hills, canyons, and grasslands with sprinkles of colorful wildflowers blooming in the spring and into the summer. Shade is not plentiful at this park so be sure to bring the necessary sun protection with you.

Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area

Considered one of the many hidden gems of Southern California, the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area rests within the San Gabriel Valley just 30 minutes north of Pacific Palms Resort in Irwindale, CA. This county park and dam rest amongst gravel quarries that make up most of the area. The main attraction here is the swim beach (open during summer months only) and a 70-acre lake perfect for a day out on the water.

Whittier Narrows Natural Area

This is Mother Nature at its beat in the greater Los Angeles area. Whittier Narrows Natural Area is home to over 300 bird species including the protected White-tailed Kite and the endangered Least Bell’s Vireo. Situated on the westerly side of the San Gabriel River, this natural area is home to hiking trails beautiful views of San Gabriel Valley.
