Come celebrate Lunar New Year at Pacific Palms Resort! We’ll be ringing in the Year of the Dog with fun events and special dining opportunities! Joining us is the perfect way to relax, ward off bad luck and invite good fortune into the year to come. Below is a history of the holiday, and information on all the fun that we’ll be having – you don’t want to miss this!

History

Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year and Spring Festival, is one of the oldest holidays in the world, with over 3000 years of storied traditions! Coinciding with the start of the Chinese Lunar Calendar, the celebrations last for 16 days and were traditionally a time for farmers to rest from their work, relax with family, and invite positivity into their lives for the coming year.

Year of the Dog

Each new year is named after an animal, based on the twelve-year cycle of Chinese zodiac signs. On February 16, 2018, we’ll be ushering out the Rooster as we welcome the Year of the Dog! The Dog is ceremonially regarded as a promising symbol – if a dog enters a house, it’s seen as a coming of good fortune. This year should be a great one!

Our Celebration at Pacific Palms Resort

The traditional celebrations involve relaxation with family and close friends, with certain importance surrounding meals and foods. The ceremonial reunion meal is said to be the most important meal of the year. We’re excited to offer several traditional meals guaranteed to bring good fortune to all involved!

On Saturday, February 17 (5 PM – 9PM), we’ll be offering multiple special entrees at our dinner buffet, including Elephant Fish Fin Soup, Braised Live Lobster, Sliced Sea Conch, and Snow Crab Clusters. Fish traditionally symbolizes surplus, so these offerings should bring plentiful wealth to you and your family! Don’t forget to get some Dumplings – the must-eat food of the holiday!

We’ll keep the festivities going on Sunday morning with a Lunar New Year Brunch (11 AM – 2 PM) guaranteed to please everyone – and hopefully bring more good fortune into the days ahead! It will be held at our famous Cima Restaurant with exceptional floor-to-ceiling views of the breathtaking Celebration Lake and the surrounding San Gabriel Mountains.

For reservations, please call 626-854-2335. Don’t forget to book your room today – this is an event that you’ll remember all year long! We look forward to seeing you there! Happy Lunar New Year!
