It’s no surprise that Los Angeles wedding venues are a top choice for couples. Warm temperatures year-round, beautiful landscapes for photos, and a relaxed ambiance sets the tone for a stress-free wedding. The best part is that these benefits can be found at any time of the year.

Earlier this year, TheKnot.com released its annual survey on wedding trends and found that fall weddings are trending, with 32 percent of couples married in 2013 having a fall ceremony and 24 percent cited their ceremony as a destination wedding.

With an average engagement of 14 months, here are some tips to help you start planning your fall California wedding in 2015.

Budget: One thing many wedding planning couples do not account for when setting their budget are the miscellaneous fees and taxes. We often focus on the per-head price and forget about corkage fees, audio-visual costs, and service charges. Discuss all add-ons with your venue to ensure your budget covers the wedding you want or review wedding packages to see what services are grouped together by the venue. You can also ask about discounts for Friday or Sunday ceremonies or if there are discounts for having a slower season wedding.

Invitations: It’s important when planning a destination wedding to provide your guest list with plenty of notice so they can plan accordingly and maybe take off some extra time to enjoy the destination with you prior to the wedding. If a lot of your guests are out-of-towners, you may feel the need to provide them with lots of information about where they’re staying. Don’t feel you need to put this all on the invitation! Many bridal planning websites allow you to create a unique URL you can direct guests to for more information on the area, activities, and directions.

Venue and décor styles: Your wedding should reflect your tastes and style, but that doesn’t mean you have to pay for every single decoration! Your venue should work with you to make sure the décor is what you want but also highlights the beauty of the venue. You choose your venue for a reason and if your venue has a breathtaking view of the mountains, don’t waste money on decorations that would block it!

Flowers: Choosing your flowers is a wonderful experience but with a fall ceremony don’t be afraid to go for bold colors. We’ve seen many happy bridal parties enjoying the fall theme with shades of orange, red, purple, and green. Talk with your venue or wedding consultant about flowers that are in season to get the best price!

The guest experience: The survey also showed that couples are budgeting more for guest entertainment costs, such as an after-party or morning-after brunch. For a festive after-party, we’d recommend a fall themed spread with a dessert bar offering pumpkin pie, candy apples or apple pie pops. For weddings at Pacific Palms Resort we always recommend our Cima Restaurant’s Sunday Champagne Brunch as a fun and delicious way to end your wedding weekend and thank your guests.

We know that no matter what time of year you have a wedding in California it’ll be the memory of a lifetime. If you’re interested in learning more about our wedding services, please feel free to contact us.
